The Uk Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology has just recently published a updated parliamentary briefing the POSTnote 533.
This Update relates to the latest data and research regarding the use safety and quality of electronic cigarettes. It summarises the latest data on scale of use of electronic cigarettes, and their value as a stop smoking tool. It also explores the implications of the new EU Tobacco Products Directive and regulatory approaches in the UK.
To first understand the contents of a POSTnote it is important to know what IT IS and what it is USED for.
According to the Uk Parliamentary office of science and tecnology
“POST provides balanced and accessible overviews of research from across the biological, physical and social sciences, and engineering and technology. We place the findings of this research in a policy context for Parliamentary use”.
“POSTnotes are four page summaries of public policy issues based on reviews of the research literature and interviews with stakeholders from across academia, industry, government and the third sector; they are peer reviewed by external experts. POSTnotes are often produced proactively, so that parliamentarians have advance knowledge of key issues before they reach the top of the political agenda”.
So basically it’s a summery of all the important facts relating to a certain topic ( POSTnote 533 being vaping and Ecigs), Put in straight forward simple terms for politicians to read so they can understand where we currently are regarding the subject.
This current postnote updates the previous post note 455 which was understandably full of various assumptions and omissions which in 2014 could be understandable due to lack of scientific information and research as well as relatively few people using the apparatus compared to 2016.
I believe it is important reading for all Vapers and E-Ciggarette users and is quite informative and properly referenced with credible information.
BEAR IN MIND THIS IS A DOCUMENT USED TO INFORM THE PALIMENTERIANS SO IT IS EXTREMLY BALANCED, IT DOES NOT FAVOR ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER BUT IT JUST PASSING FORWARD THE INFORMATION WE CURRENTLY HAVE IN A VERY READABLE AND NON CONFUSING WAY, SO I BELIEVE IT IS A FAIR SUMMERY OF WHERE WE STAND TODAY.
